Roots in a Troubled AI Venture

The investigation traces back to AllHere Education, a Boston startup that secured a $6 million contract with LAUSD in 2024 to build an AI chatbot called “Ed.”[3] Intended to enhance attendance tracking and parent communication, the project launched in March but faltered quickly.

By June 2024, AllHere laid off most staff, declared bankruptcy, and failed to deliver the full scope, though LAUSD reported no financial loss on the $3 million paid for partial services.[2] The contract emerged from a competitive bidding process reviewed by a panel.
