A Transformation Expert Steps In (Image Credits: Foodbusinessnews.net)

St. Louis — Post Holdings Inc. tapped consumer packaged goods veteran Greg Pearson to lead its largest subsidiary, Post Consumer Brands, starting April 1.

A Transformation Expert Steps In

Greg Pearson arrives with a track record of revitalizing businesses in competitive sectors. His expertise spans grocery staples and pet nutrition, aligning closely with Post Consumer Brands’ diverse lineup. Post Holdings President and CEO Rob Vitale highlighted this match in announcing the hire.

“Greg’s experience leading and transforming businesses in grocery and pet, across brands and private label, is a great fit for our Post Consumer Brands organization,” Vitale stated. Pearson currently serves as CEO of Compana Pet Brands, where he optimized supply chains and reshaped product portfolios since January 2023. These efforts position him to drive Post Consumer Brands forward.

The appointment signals confidence in Pearson’s ability to sustain momentum for a unit that generated $4.02 billion in sales during fiscal 2025.

Pearson’s Extensive CPG Journey

Pearson built his career across major players in food and pet industries. He previously led Pretzels Inc. as CEO, steering growth initiatives that culminated in its sale to The Hershey Co. in 2021. Earlier stops included marketing leadership at Chewy Inc. and pasta divisions at TreeHouse Foods Inc. and Conagra Brands Inc.

His foundation lies in brand marketing at General Mills Inc., where he spent over seven years on cereal and baked goods. Pearson also chaired the National Pasta Association and served as first vice chair at SNAC International. These roles underscore his deep industry networks.

  • CEO, Compana Pet Brands (2023–present): Supply chain and strategy overhauls.
  • CEO, Pretzels Inc.: Drove operations leading to Hershey acquisition.
  • Head of Marketing, Chewy Inc.: Managed brands, private labels, e-commerce.
  • VP/GM Pasta, TreeHouse Foods and Conagra: Oversaw private brands.
  • Brand Marketing Manager, General Mills: Cereal and baked foods focus.

Transition from Nicolas Catoggio

Nicolas Catoggio, who helmed Post Consumer Brands until recently, assumed the role of executive vice president and chief operating officer at Post Holdings last month. He succeeded Jeff Zadoks following Zadoks’ retirement in January. Catoggio will collaborate with Pearson through the handover.

“I trust Greg will be a valuable leader for our business and our people and am confident his expertise and perspectives will guide Post Consumer Brands well into the future,” Catoggio said. This overlap ensures continuity for the Lakeville, Minn.-based operation.

Portfolio of Household Names

Post Consumer Brands commands a strong presence in cereals, snacks, nut butters, and pet foods. Its brands reach everyday shoppers through familiar products. The division stands as Post Holdings’ biggest contributor.

Key offerings include ready-to-eat cereals like Honey Bunches of Oats, Pebbles, and Grape-Nuts, alongside Malt-O-Meal. Pet lines feature Nutrish, Kibbles ‘n Bits, and 9Lives. Peter Pan peanut butter rounds out the mix.
